LEARN ABOUT US
Good Neighbor Settlement House is a nonprofit, multi-service agency dedicated to assisting the needy men, women, and children of Brownsville, TX through programs that provide nutritious meals, clothing, showers, and support services. At GNSH, we serve our community through a variety of ways:

SOUP KITCHEN
We provide 3 nutritious meals per day Monday through Friday to anyone in the Brownsville community at no cost, as well as snack bags. In 2020, we served 70,044 meals.

RESPITE PROGRAM
We offer respite to those those seeking asylum after being released by Custom Border Patrol (CPB) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) by providing basic needs like a hot meal, showers, a bed, and helpful resources.

CLIENT SERVICES
We aim to improve the individual’s
housing, health status, and social support network. We assist in areas such as: resume building, applying for benefits, case management, and job search.

MESA LLENA FOOD BANK
Mesa Llena is a Community Food Project of Good Neighbor Settlement House. It is a client choice pantry providing a variety of food options with access to fresh produce and healthy food choices for the homeless in the Downtown Brownsville and Buena Vida neighborhood.

HYGIENE PROGRAM
We provide hygiene kits and access to showers and laundry services because we believe that no one should be denied access to proper hygiene because of their housing situation.

OFFICE RESOURCES
120 clients claim the GNSH as their mailing address. Homeless clients have a place to receive their mail, use a phone/copy & fax machine, and receive English to Spanish translation services.

MEDICAL SERVICES
Dr. Kazim Hussain and his medical staff offer free consultations every Tuesday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
